My god, what have they done? First there were your typical restaurant nachos coming in at around a pound. Then there was Mount Nacheesmo coming in at 5 pounds. Then whatever the weight of the secret menu nachos as Disney World is. And now, at a whopping 14 pounds comes the “Big Papa Nachos” at Mex 1 Costal Cantina. They’ve pulled out a literal 14 pound dish and let it flop on the table, extending their arms and saying, “What are you going to do about this?”
For some reason this is a secret menu item, which only leads us to assume that Mex 1 is for some reason ashamed of the dish. Why the shame Mex 1, why the shame? Did nachos not hug you enough as a child and now you’re taking it out on them? Or maybe, as the gigantic order of Disney World nachos are also a secret item, there is something societally shameful about a single dish which is really made for 10 people? Does only Tios Mexican Cafe have the courage of its convictions to sell a gigantic order of nachos out in the open for all the world to see?
Tios knows that big nachos are beautiful nachos. Once you’re getting over a pound or two of chips and cheese it’s all a ridiculous amount of nachos whether it be 5 pounds or 14 pounds or 100 pounds. It’s a joke, and only Tios has the jalapenos to laugh along with it. Just because you can make a gigantic order of nachos, if you’re going to hide it away, why even bother? Mex 1 Costal Cantina may now sell the largest commercially available order of nachos, but until they proudly put them on display they might as well be selling the smallest.
