Podcasting is a medium where any yahoo with a microphone and an opinion can make their thoughts known on a regular and easily downloadable basis. Want to make a podcast about the beef and dairy industry of Great Britain? You can do it. Want to cover every book of the Berenstain Bears series? Well that already exists. Want to watch Grown Ups 2 every week for a year? Of course one exists that covers that. Did you also know there exist podcasts that cover nachos? It’s true! Kind of.
While there exists no podcast only and explicitly about nachos (yet that is…) there are a few where it will come up as more than just an aside or a very special episode. Take for example The Corner Table from The Capital Times, a podcast about food and drink in Madison, Wisconsin. Take there March 14th 2018 episode, “Nacho Nacho Cheese Cheese”.
Enlightening, is it not? That’s some of the hardest hitting and deepest frying nacho insight out there on the internet. Why can’t a podcast exist that covers nachos in this level of detail every week? I don’t know, I just don’t know.
Another podcast, while also not nacho specific, does frequently venture into nacho territory. The Adam Carolla Show, which holds a place in the Guinness book of world records as the #1 most downloaded podcast in the world, also has an interesting outlook on nachos in one of their most recent podcasts:
Adam Carolla may be a world renowned curmudgeon, but he does appear to be a nacho purist to a degree that Ignacio Anaya would approve. I see both his points of saying that nachos are chips/cheese/jalapenos and toppings, and that nachos with chicken added become nachos with chicken, but I think nachos with something added can also be called nachos without a problem. Give me a worldwide podcast please.
But where there is good, there is also bad, and there are plenty of not so great "nacho" podcasts as well. Nacho Mama’s Podcast’s description reads “Beauty, Body Image, Weightloss, Fitness, Couponing, Culture and more.” Unless “More” is nachos, which I find hard to believe as it’s unlikely that would be combined with “weightloss” and “body image” and “fitness”, not interested. Nacho Radio Podcasts don’t have anything to do with nachos at all, other than camping on the good name of nachos for their own amusement. As for The Horror of Nachos and Hamantaschen, these idiots don’t even mention nachos! Are they hilarious? Sure, but are nachos broached in a single episode? Not so much. Sigh. They’re up there with Books and Nachos as a podcast that covers horror books, and basically nothing nacho related.
One day there will be a proprietary nacho podcast, but today is sadly not yet that day. It is a shame. Maybe there will be someone who has the free time to make an entirely nacho centric podcast out there, but if Nachonomics, which let’s say is the preeminent nacho website still publishing, doesn’t have time for it, I don’t know who else would. If you, future nacho podcaster, are that future nacho podcasting person, please drop me a line as I would be very interested in subscribing and liking and five starring.
